Mysuru: The three day State-level Milking Contest, organised jointly by Mysuru Nagara Gopalakara Sangha and Department of Animal Husbandry in memory of late actors Thoogudeepa Srinivas and Ambarish, will be held from Feb.8 to 10 at J.K. Grounds in city.
Speaking to media persons at a press conference held in city yesterday, Sangha President D. Nagabhushan said that cow rearers across the State will be taking part in the competition.
Prize winners will get Rs.1 lakh and a 2 kg silver lamp (first prize); Rs.75,000 and 1.5 kg silver lamp (second prize); Rs.50,000 and 1 kg silver lamp (third prize); Rs.30,000 and 1 kg silver lamp (fourth prize) and Rs.20,000 and 1 kg silver lamp (fifth prize).
Procession of cows
A procession of cows, accompanied by folk troupes from across the State and Lord Sri Krishna’s idol, will taken out from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple to J.K. Grounds on Feb.8 at 6 pm. Go puja will be held at J.K. Grounds at 7 pm.
Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath will flag off the procession. Former Minister C.H. Vijayashankar and former MLC G. Madhusuadan will be the chief guest.
The milking contest will be held on Feb.10 at 6.30 am and 5.30 pm.
