State-level paper presentation contest on ‘Mechatronics and Humatronics’

Mysuru: A two-day State-level paper presentation competition on ‘Mechatronics and Humatronics’ was organised by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National Institute of Engineering (NIE), here recently.  The competition, sponsored by Yaskawa India Private Limited, Bengaluru, was inaugurated by Shailendra Salvi, COO, Yaskawa India.

B.S. Harish, Deputy COO,  Lokesh Patel, R&D Head, Pradeep Kumar, Sr. Manager –Technical Support and Avinash Seetharam, Manager – Commercial Excellence, all from Yaskawa India were present on the occasion.

In the first round 50 papers were presented. Six papers were short listed. The presentation session was presided by Akinori Urakawa, President & CEO, Yaskawa India.

Srinag, Research Scholar, IIT Kharagpur,  won the first prize worth Rs. 50,000 for his paper  “Towards the design and development of flapping wing-based micro aerial robot” while  M.V. Ramya, S. Nisarga and Afreen Laes won the second prize worth Rs. 30,000 for their paper “Automatic food-maker.”

The event was co-ordinated  by Dr. M.V. Achutha, HoD of Mechanical Engineering, NIE, Dr. K.R. Prakash,  Co-ordinator of M.Tech (IAR), M. Rakesh, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering and H.P. Vinod Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering. About 70 participants from across India participated in the paper presentation competition.
