As part of Kannada Rajyotsava, the Centre of Excellence For Studies in Classical Kannada, Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Hunsur road, Manasagangothri, has organised a State-level essay contest for Post-Graduate students, a State-level Gamaka Vachana contest for members of the public and a State-level Halegannada Pathya Vachana contest for Research students and Teaching faculty. There will be three prizes in each category. The first prize carries a cash reward of Rs.3,000, second prize – Rs. 2,000 and third prize – Rs.1,000.
