Mysuru: A State-level workshop on playwright, littérateur and actor Girish Karnad’s plays focusing on mythology, history and politics will be held on Feb.2.
The workshop is being organised as part of the 40th anniversary of Vidyavardhaka First Grade College. Kannada and Culture Department retired Director Y.K. Muddukrishna will inaugurate the workshop at 9.30 am at the college premises, said College Principal Dr. S. Marigowda, addressing a press conference at Pathrakartara Bhavan here on Tuesday.
At the workshop, theatre activist Prof. H.S. Umesh will present a paper on Girish Karnad’s plays and former Prasaranga Director and writer Prof. C. Naganna will talk on ‘Structure of Conspiracy in Tuglaq’ while Prof. Pratibha Mudaliar will also present a paper. At 3.25 pm, thesis will be presented.
During the inauguration, College Administration Board Hon. President Gundappa Gowda will preside and Members P. Vishwanath, S.N. Lakshminarayan, T. Nagaraj and others will be present.
The workshop has been organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Kannada, English and Hindi Departments, said Dr. Marigowda.
College teaching faculty members Prof. Chandrashekar, Dr. C.R. Chandru, Dr. Dhananjaya Balalli and Kanchana were present during the press meet.
