Mysore/Mysuru: S. Jayaprakash (JP), President of Cauvery Kriya Samithi, has urged the newly elected 28 Lok Sabha MPs from the State to give priority to solve Cauvery water dispute in the coming days.
He was speaking during a campaign launched to collect signatures in condemnation of the injustice being meted out to Karnataka in inter-State water dispute, near Silver Jubilee clock tower on Saturday.
“Even though the State continues to suffer a setback in the dispute, the Centre remains nonchalant without intervening to solve the row. So, the new MPs have to work united to solve the dispute,” demanded JP.
Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) dam barely holds any water, with the available water released by the State Government to Tamil Nadu, leaving the standing crops of lakhs of farmers go dry, resulting in a loss of several lakhs of rupees, he alleged.
The Centre should give its consent to start Mekedatu project or else we will be forced to launch intensified agitation in the coming days, he warned.
Pro-Kannada activist Tejas Lokesh Gowda, Vokkaligara Sangha leaders Shivalingaiah and Manjula, farmer leaders Varakodu Krishnegowda, Bhagyamma, Sindhuvalli Shivakumar, Nagaraju, Krishnappa, Neha, Mahesh Gowda, Kishore Gowda, Mahadev, Akbar, Raveesh, Honnegowda, Soppina Keri Chandru, Abhi, Vidyarti Kriya Samiti leaders Sudarshan, Sanjay, Rajesh, Kiran, Hemanth, Prajwal, Vishnu and Harish were present.
