Mysuru: The three-day Village Panchayat Workers Convention will be held from Dec. 9 to Dec. 11. A preliminary meeting in this regard was held at Hotel Govardhan Hall on Sunday.
It was decided to invite Chief Minister Siddharamaiah and other elected representatives for the Convention and submit a memorandum with respect to the problems faced by the Village Panchayat workers.
Address the gathering, Village Panchayat Workers Association District President K. Basavaraju said that CM Siddharamaiah had already promised to fulfil their demands including payment of salaries through Electronic Fund Management System (eFMS), promotion to workers among others.
He added that through the convention, the Association would urge Siddharamaiah to fulfil their demands at the earliest.
Association State Vice-President Gopalakrishna, who spoke on the occasion, said the Village Panchayat workers across the State were denied uniform salaries and the minimum wage of Rs. 11,000 and added that only Rs. 7,000 was being paid as salary to the workers.
Association District Secretary Mannigowda, Taluk President Kanagalu Prakash and others were present.
