Sir,
Of late, I have been observing that the beggars throng vehicles at almost all the traffic signals. Persons with disability, women, old aged people, women with child in their arms are found begging at most of the traffic junctions within Mysuru city and Outer Ring Road (ORR). This is a black mark on the prestigious city.
Now, the Government has implemented various schemes including ‘Anna Bhagya’, Indira Canteen, Pension Scheme, etc., besides a host of shelter homes run by philanthropic organisations. Further, a willing person including aged can earn their livelihoods by engaging in minor/part-time job as domestic help, which has a good demand.
But, it appears that an organised gang is operating behind begging racket. The District Administration should take strict action to stop this menace. Otherwise it will definitely dent the image of the city and result in adverse impact on commerce.
