Sir,
Mysuru city has been adjudged the cleanest medium city in Karnataka in Swachh Survekshan 2022 rankings. But our city is not completely clean because of the foul smell emanating from storm water drains. The name storm water itself implies that the drain is meant to drain off rain water only but here sewage water also flows into this drain.
The residents of Vijayanagar 3rd Stage have to bear the brunt as the sewage water is flowing from Hinkal village side from last nine months. The storm water drain runs along 17th and 18th Cross Road from Blue Bell apartments till Heritage Club, Vijayanagar 3rd Stage, A1 Block and the foul smell is unbearable.
I have complained to MCC many times but the officials have failed to stop the flow. Even though Vijayanagar 3rd Stage is handed over to MCC, officials point us towards MUDA.
The storm water drain is in a very bad condition along the stretch as the old masonry built wall is full of holes, which leads to drainage water seeping and entering the drinking water (borewell). This also increases health hazards. On behalf of all the residents of Vijayanagar 3rd Stage, I request the Mayor, MCC Commissioner and MLA G.T. Devegowda of Chamundeshwari Constituency to look into this issue as soon as possible.
– A concerned resident, Vijayanagar 3rd Stage, 5.4.2023
