Mysuru: Artist Baadal Nanjundaswamy will be narrating storiesto children at Suruchi Rangamane, #476, Chitrabhanu Road, Kuvempunagar, tomorrow (Aug.11) from 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm, as part of ‘Kathe Kelona Banni-602’ of Kalasuruchi.
Profile: Baadal Nanjundaswamy, an alumnus of Chamarajendra Academy of Visual Arts (CAVA), Mysuru, is most popular for his street art and 3D paintings. Presently settled in Bengaluru, he has several Black and White wall portraits to his credit. Sachin Tendulkar’s portrait in the Students’ Activity Centre in IIT Powai is one of them.
Baadal has also written short stories in Kannada which have been published in leading newspapers and magazines. Admittedly, he finds the works of Gabriel Garcia Marquez and particularly the magic realism element in his writing very interesting.
About ‘Kathe Kelona Banni: It is a weekly story-telling programme of Kalasuruchi at Suruchi Rangamane, which has already entered the Limca Book of Records in 2016 for being the longest story-telling programme without a break. Many eminent personalties, including scientists, doctors, engineers, academicians, musicians, actors, theatre persons, singers, writers, Police officials, among others have conducted the sessions.
Convenor of Kathe Kelona Banni programme Dr. H. K. Ramanath says, Kalasuruchi, the brainchild of theatre person Sindhuvalli Ananthamurthy, was founded in 1985. “The cultural organisation has been catering to lovers of art, literature, theatre and music for the past 32 years. It organises Harikathe, classical music, plays and literary programmes, besides publishing books,” he said. Kalasuruchi’s ‘Suruchi Rangamane’ is a ‘Gruha Ranga’, a hundred-seat mini theatre, which hosts a variety of programmes.
