Stray cattle, streetlight issues on Mahadevapura Main Road

Sir,

I wish to draw the urgent attention of the MCC Commissioner to a serious and recurring hazard faced by residents and commuters along the Mahadevapura Main Road.

This busy stretch — passing through Udayagiri, Beedi Workers Hospital in Azeez Sait Nagar and Satellite Bus Stand — sees heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic and has become increasingly dangerous due to two critical issues: Unchecked presence of stray cattle and complete absence of functional streetlights.

After dusk, the road becomes pitch dark and cattle are often found sitting or wandering on the road dividers and even on the carriageway itself.

The lack of visibility makes it nearly impossible for motorists to spot these animals in time, leading to frequent near-misses and accidents, also unable to identify road crossing intersections and blind spots, specifically in the vicinity of the Beedi Hospital stretch.

Pedestrians, daily wage workers and motorists returning home late are at constant risk. The situation is not only a threat to human life but also endangers the animals themselves.

I request the Mysuru City Corporation to look into this issue and take immediate and sustained action by installing and maintaining adequate street lighting along the entire Mahadevapura Main Road, safely relocating stray cattle to designated shelters, conducting regular inspections and deploying personnel to monitor and manage the situation.
