Man’s inhuman act leads to animal’s death
Mysuru: A stray cow which had come in search of food was electrocuted near Abhishek Circle in Manchegowdanakoppal here yesterday.
The cow which died belonged to Ningamma, a resident of Manchegowdanakoppal. The incident occurred near a transformer. The residents in the surrounding areas dump the garbage near the transformer.
Every day, around 8 am the Pourakarmikas come and clear the garbage carrying it in the garbage vans.
However, the cow strayed in search of food at 7 am and seeing the garbage strewn around, it tried to rummage for some food. But due to electric shock, it immediately died on the spot.
The residents feel that if the Pourakarmikas had come early then it would have resulted in a bigger tragedy.
Unscientific installation of transformers: Every day the Pourakarmikas go door-to-door to pick up the wet and dry waste.
But a few of the residents including people staying in paying guest accommodations and people running fast food joints throw the garbage near the transformer. As a result, the whole area stinks and mosquito menace has increased. There is also a danger of spread of communicable diseases.
The CESC (Chamundeshwari Electric Supply Corporation) officials have put up transformers near the roads but have not installed grills around it. Hence, the cow was electrocuted.
The Electricity Board officials must take care at least now to install grills around the transformers to prevent such tragedies.
Stray cattle menace: The menace of stray cattle has gone up in the city and most of them stand on the middle of the roads, affecting traffic movement, besides leading to accidents.
The Corporation officials must take action against this menace, urged the public of the city.
