Stray dog menace: MCC Health Officer clarifies

Mysuru: Following the publication of a Voice Of The Reader recently under the headline ‘Stray dog menace: MCC must set up a help desk’ by R. Prakash of Dattagalli and a news item titled ‘Stray dog menace in Kukkarahalli Lake’ in Star of Mysore, the MCC Health Officer has issued a clarification:

With regard to the letter by R. Prakash, the MCC Health Officer has clarified that Dattagalli 3rd Stage does not come under MCC limits and has asked to contact the local authority of the locality to get the problem solved.

To the news item, about a pack of dogs causing fear among walkers, the Officer stated that MCC staff visited Kukkarahalli Lake and found that a majority of stray dogs have been sterilised and as per Animal Birth Control (Dogs) Rule 2023, dogs cannot be killed or relocated.

He further stated that the MCC has adopted ABC programme which is existing throughout the country to control dog menace.
