Stray dogs maul deer to death

Hanagod: A pack of stray dogs has mauled a deer to death at Chikkahejjur in Hanagod hobli on Saturday early morning.

The pack of dogs, which saw a herd of deer was grazing near Veeranahosahalli Range in Nagarahole Reserve Forest, began to bark at them forcing the herd to run into the forest. But villagers, who saw the dogs barking near the trench, shooed them away but by then the dogs had mauled a deer to death.

Forest Department staff, who arrived at the scene, conducted an inspection and took custody of the deer’s carcass for further action.
