Stray dogs rule the roost

Sir,

The menace of stray dogs has reached alarming levels near Trinetra Circle and Aditya Adhikari Hospital (Contour Road) in the Nanda Gokula residential area. These dogs are increasingly posing a threat to vehicle riders, walkers, and pedestrians, occasionally even launching unprovoked attacks.

Along the Hebbal-Vijayanagar route, packs of strays have created an atmosphere of fear. Their sudden barking often startles drivers, sometimes resulting in collisions with oncoming traffic. It is now a daily sight to witness food delivery personnel being chased for nearly half a kilometre.

Ironically, a majority of the residents in this area identify as animal lovers. Despite the growing public safety issues, many of them strongly oppose any intervention or action against the dogs.

As a result, the situation has turned into a peculiar standoff, where commuters and the general public are caught between aggressive strays and their staunch defenders.

I sincerely urge the authorities concerned to take prompt and effective measures to curb this canine nuisance and restore a sense of safety and peace for the residents and road users.
