Street vendors asked to maintain cleanliness

Mysuru: Street vendors in city have been asked to maintain cleanliness in the place of their business, failing which, they were warned of eviction.

Speaking at the valedictory of the training programme and distribution of ID cards to streets vendors organised by Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) under the Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana at Vidya Shankar Kalyana Mantap in city recently, District Vector Borne Diseases Control Officer Dr. Chidambara, urging the street vendors to maintain good health, said that the street vendors have to question themselves if they are clean and are not infected with any disease before serving food to customers.

Street vendors must only sell hygienic food. The food sold in pushing carts must be kept inside a clean and covered transparent box. Vendors must prevent flies and other insects sitting on the items being sold and must also have neat hair cut and in case of women they must tie their hair tight to prevent hair falling on the food items, he said. 

Karnataka Rajya Rasthe Badi Vyaparigala Mahamandala President Bhaskar Srinivasaraje Urs, Vice-President D. Nagaraju, Secretary Rajanna and K.B. Somu were present.
