Mysuru: Highlighting the tasks ahead of the student community, ISRO Chairman A.S. Kiran Kumar has called upon the students to give in their best for bringing about quality of improvement in the country.
He was speaking at Gurikar Marimallappa Samsmaranotsava and gold medals, prizes and certificates distribution programme at Marimallappa’s Educational Institutions here yesterday.
Pointing out that children should develop a craze for studying Science and come up with innovations that benefit the society, Kiran Kumar emphasised that the benefits of discoveries, innovations and research should reach the common man and it is the responsibility of the Science fraternity to ensure that the innovations will help improve quality of life in the country.
Maintaining that the student community is an important asset of the country, he exhorted the students to study with dedication and determination and contribute their mite for the scientific progress of our country.
The ISRO Chairman also gave a brief on the growth of ISRO since its inception, during which he explained the benefits of launching satellites and space vehicles.
Gurikar gold medal was presented to K. Sowbhagya, Matrushi gold medal to Hamsashri and Bhagyashilpi gold medal to Ayesha Miryam (all SSLC students), prizes to G.M. Sudeep and Ritesh, SSLC toppers and S. Kavya, who secured first rank in BA of University of Mysore and merit certificates to over 240 top ranking students of the institute.
Floral tributes were offered to the portrait of Marimallappa’s Educational Institutions Founder Gurikar Mallappa on the occasion.
Marimallappa Educational Institutions Hon. President S. Paramashivaiah, Hon. Secretary Prof. K.N. Panchaksharaswamy, DDPUE Jayaprakash, Marimallappa’s PU College Principal B.R. Neelakanta and others were present on the occasion.
