Students turn bus shelter into parking lot

Mysore/Mysuru: A bus shelter near Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) campus on Chaduranga Road in city has turned into a vehicle parking lot.

The bus shelter was built under MLA Local Area Development (MLA LAD) Funds during the tenure of H.S. Shankaralingegowda, for the benefit of commuters who wait for the buses. However, the students have been allegedly parking their vehicles inside, thus defeating the purpose of building the shelter.  Strangely, even the Traffic Police have turned a blind eye towards the issue.

What’s intriguing here is, the students who are not allowed inside SJCE campus without helmet, have found an alternative space in the bus shelter to park their vehicles. The college authorities have been stern in implementing the rule in campus, in the interest of safety of students.

The Police, who regularly patrol the stretch of road three to four times in a day, also stay put up during the opening and closing hours of the college by stationing their vehicle. But the Police have to also turn their eye on the bus shelter that has been converted into an illegal parking lot by the students, urge the commuters.
