Chief Secretary tells District Administration
Madikeri: State Chief Secretary T.M. Vijay Bhaskar has directed Kodagu District Administration to submit a comprehensive report on crop loss due to floods, by Sept.12. Addressing a review meeting of officials at the DC’s Office here on Saturday, Vijay Bhaskar sought inputs from the officials on the extent of damages caused by floods and landslides and the relief and rehabilitation measures taken so far.
Asking the officials of all concerned Departments to submit a complete report to the District Administration by Sept.12, the Chief Secretary said that after receiving a comprehensive report, the same will be submitted to the Government by Sept.15 after a study. Noting that several villages have got disconnected due to the disaster, he asked CESC engineers to provide power connections to these villages by Sept.12.
Stating that there have been complaints from some flood victims that rice under Anna Bhagya Scheme is yet to reach them, he directed the Food and Civil Supplies Department officials to ensure that food grains and other ration reach the victims.
He also gave instructions on providing employment guarantee scheme, scientific re-construction of damaged highways and other roads, location of land for providing shelter to flood-affected victims and also on the type of houses to be built for victims. DC P.I. Sreevidya said that many victims have asked the Government to pay rent for their rented houses until they are suitably accommodated.
Apprising the Chief Secretary of the issue, she said that the District Administration has been working overtime to address issues related to floods and landslides.
ZP CEO Prashant Kumar Mishra, CCF Lingaraju, SP Suman D. Pennekar, ADC M. Satish Kumar, AC Dr. Nanjundegowda and other officials were present.
