Subway planned near Zoo: A suggestion

Sir,

This refers to the news in a section of the press that there is a proposal to link the parking lot located opposite to the Zoo and Zoo Complex via a subway or an underpass. Though it is a very good proposal, it should not meet the same fate as that of the subway near Exhibition Grounds. It should be well-maintained and properly lit to avoid antisocial elements misusing it.

Once subway is completed, a high raised permanent road divider (not temporary barricades) to the possible extent of the distance needs to be provided on the road to avoid the money to be spent on subway going to the drain. Otherwise, people will forgo its use as one can see near Bata Showroom on Sayyaji Rao Road and near the Exhibition Grounds, and cross the road as they like by ignoring even zebra crossings. Hope, the authorities will keep this in mind while taking up subway construction work.
