‘Sudharma’ couple felicitated

Padma Shri awardees K.V. Sampath Kumar and Vidushi K.S. Jayalakshmi of ‘Sudharma’ Sanskrit daily, who were felicitated at a function organised by Parampare at Sarada Vilas Law College in city yesterday, are seen with K. Ramachandra, Prof. M.I. Mysore/Mysuru: City based editors of India’s only Sanskrit daily, ‘Sudharma’, K.V. Sampath Kumar and his wife Vidushi K.S. Jayalakshmi, who have been selected for the distinguished Padma Shri award, were felicitated yesterday at a programme organised by Parampare at Sarada Vilas Law College, Krishnamurthypuram.

Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala Chief Swami Yukteshanandaji Maharaj who presided over the event and felicitated the couple said, “The Sudharma couple have been selected for the country’s most distinguished Padma Shri award. It is really a great honour to Sanskrit language and to journalism.”

Speaking on the occasion, Sudharma editor K.V. Sampath Kumar said, “I had never applied for any award or public recognition. I dedicate this award to my late father who started this venture.”

Sanskrit scholar Dr. H.V. Nagaraja Rao, Prof. M.I. Lakshmitatachar, Sarada Vilas Educational Institutions President B.S. Parthasarathy and others were present.
