Sugarcane growers urge State Govt. to declare health emergency

Mysore/Mysuru: In the backdrop of increasing number of the affected in the second wave of covid-19 across the State, Karnataka Sugarcane Growers Association on Saturday urged the State Government to declare a health emergency to control the spiking cases and increased death rate.

In a statement issued here, Association President Kurubur Shanthakumar asked the State Government to take control over the Private Hospitals as they are ignoring the Government’s directives.

Stating that rural people are not being adequately treated and there was shortage of beds, oxygen and ventilators, he urged the Government to take a decision to waive the loan repayment of the deceased patient in any hospital. Farmers should be protected by a minimum support price due to a decline in prices for farmers’ agricultural products, he pointed out.

Doctors, Nurses and Paramedical staff put a lot of effort into treating Corona patients and, hence, the State Government should increase their salaries, he demanded.
