Suggestions to resolve stray dog menace

Sir,

This has reference to many letters and WhatsApp messages to SOM on the street dog menace. There has been a rise in the number of complaints as also the number of street dog population.

In this regard, I had suggested a scheme in which MCC would formulate a programme of inviting local residents to voluntarily come forward to take care of these strays with an assurance of expenses of looking after the strays to be borne by the MCC out of its health budget.

The strays so adopted by the local residents would be duly neutered to control their otherwise exponential growth. The residents have to sincerely give their love and affection to the strays and keep them duly chained and taken care of for their daily needs.

Whenever the participating resident needs a break, other residents of the area may take charge temporarily and look after the additional dogs, if the need arises.

Regular visit of a veterinarian as per a set schedule can solve the health issues of the strays. Within a definite period of time the stray menace could be brought under good control.

When the MCC and other authorities expect the citizens to believe that the former are doing their duties to solve the issues of every kind faced by the latter, why not the citizens also to be fully trusted for their cooperation and thus take their help in this issue of stray dog menace which has remained unsolved for so many years?

Hope the authorities concerned and citizens will pay heed and try this out.
