Summer camp at Bal Bhavan

Mysuru:  The summer camp for children, organised by District Jawahar Bal Bhavan, commenced at its premises in Bannimantap here yesterday. Over 85 children in the age group of 7 to 14 years are participating in the event which include many learning and entertainment activities.

Inaugurating the camp, Child Development Project Officer Manjula Patil said that the 15-day camp would help children hone their skills with a lot of extra-curricular activities. She added that the games would enable the kids improve their learning skills.
Briefing on the camp, teacher S. Shyamala said that the camp would be operational daily from 10 am to 4 pm and concludes on May 9. The participating children would be divided into four groups naming them as Mavu, Bevu, Ala and Honge. The activities include folk songs and dance, group dance, western dance, clay modelling, drawing and origami.

Resource persons would groom the children on cleanliness, environment protection and other topics. The children would also be taken on a visit to Regional Museum of Natural History and Milk Dairy for exchange of information. A demonstration on fire-fighting is also on the anvil, she explained.

Camp Convenors Namitha, Girija, Tamil Selvi, Adarsh and others were present.
