Mysore/Mysuru: Former ISRO Chairman A.S. Kiran Kumar called upon students to become knowledgable by appropriate use of technology and at the same time cautioned them against being mere products of fast growing technology.
He was speaking at ‘Summer Dreams,’ the 95th Convocation of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI), organised under the joint aegis of MMC&RI and MMC Alumni Association at KSOU Convocation Hall in Muktagangothri campus on Hunsur Road here on Sunday.
“A human being follows the environment around him/ her during learning and this following should be for the well-being of mankind. One should not forget that even technology too functions based on human inputs. However, we should be cautious to ensure that we do not become slaves of technology,” he said.
Continuing, Kiran Kumar said that technology has gone beyond the digital age now and is fast moving towards Quantum era. “A system has come wherein solutions can be found after a thorough screening of facts and experiences. However, the purpose of working for the betterment of life of all those around us should come from within,” he said.
Kiran Kumar also called upon the graduating medical students to adopt the Robotic technology, which has become the latest tool in medical treatment and care.
As many as 151 students received their Medical degrees, out of which 10 toppers were given cash rewards for their excellent performance.
MMC&RI Dean and Director Dr. K.R. Dakshayani, Alumni Association President Dr. H.N. Dinesh, Hon. President Dr. C.D. Sreenivasa Murthy, Secretary Dr. H.B. Shashidhar, MMC&RI Teachers Association President Dr. P.L. Basavanna, Student Welfare Officer Dr. S. Chandrashekar, Dr. Arjun Vasu and others were present.
