Sunil Bose told to appear before Court

The third Additional District and Sessions Court on Monday, directed Sunil Bose (son of PWD Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa), an accused in a bribery case related to illegal sand extraction and transportation case, to appear in person on Feb. 27.

Bose has been accused of forcing a Mines and Geology  Department Official, Alphonsus, to accept a bribe of Rs.1 lakh.

Alphonsus was trapped by the Lokayukta Police on Mar. 27, 2010, when he was receiving bribe from a lorry owner. He had confessed to the crime that he was forced by Bose and his friend Raju to take the bride.

The Court had earlier issued an order asking him to appear in person on Feb. 20, but his Counsel had sought exemption.

It may be recalled that Bose had requested the Court to drop his name from the case citing lack of evidence against him. But the Court rejected his appeal.
