Mysore/Mysuru: A 58-year-old photographer from city has been murdered at Puttur in Dakshina Kannada and the Police have suspected property issue behind the murder.
The murder came to light yesterday and Dakshina Kannada Police have arrested four accused in this connection.
The deceased photographer is Jagadish, a native of Mangaluru, who was residing at Subramanyanagar in city along with his wife and son. He had served as the Director of Mysuru District Photographers and Videographers Association.
Jagadish, who had purchased agricultural land at Puttur a few years ago, had gone to Puttur to inspect his land on Nov. 18 and had gone missing. His brother Shashidhar had lodged a missing complaint with Puttur Rural Police.
Jagadish had purchased about two acre agricultural land at Kunjorupanja in Aryapu village, Puttur taluk, about three years ago and his relative Balakrishna Rai was maintaining the land. On Nov. 18 morning, Jagadish, who reached Puttur, went around the place with Balakrishna and was to leave to Mysuru in a Maruti Omni van from Pulithadi, but went missing, according to the complaint.
But Shashidhar, who lodged another complaint, had stated that he had suspicion on Balakrishna Rai and his son Prashanth, who may have kidnapped Jagadish and had expressed that there was a threat on Jagadish’s life.
The Police, who converted the missing complaint into kidnapping, began their investigation, came to know that Balakrishna Rai, Prashanth, wife Jayalakshmi and Jeevan Prasad, a neighbour of Balakrishna, had murdered Jagadish and had buried the body in the reserve forest area, following which the Police arrested all the four accused. Dakshina Kannada SP Sonawane Rishikesh Bhagawan told Star of Mysore that a murder case has been registered at Puttur Rural Police Station and further action is being initiated against the accused, who have been arrested
