Hotel Owners Association President C. Narayanagowda urges Police in the interest of tourism

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru Hotel Owners Association President C. Narayanagowda has urged the City Police to suspend drunk driving checking on highways and main roads during weekends and general holidays.

Narayanagowda has stated that the Traffic Police were conducting drunk driving checking on highways and main roads during Saturdays, Sundays and on general holidays, when tourists in large number arrive to city from neighbouring districts and States.

With Police conducting the checks, a serpentine line of vehicles can be seen on the main roads hampering smooth flow of traffic besides causing problems to tourists which in turn                                will have an adverse effect on the tourism industry.

Yesterday at about 9.30 pm, the Traffic Cops were conducting drunk driving checking near BM Hospital on Hunsur Road resulting in hundreds of vehicles, with the engines still running waiting in a long line. With increase in fuel prices, vehicles had to wait for more than 30 minutes to pass the checking point, thus wasting fuel, which is a loss to them.

Narayanagowda has urged the Traffic Police not to conduct checking on highways and main roads but conduct the same on other roads which will not cause inconvenience to tourists.

He has appealed to the District Minister and the City Police Commissioner to take steps to prevent tourists from being  inconvenienced.
