Mysuru, Nov. 5 (YDS&SD)- “Even though we all speak Kannada, there are different dialects of Kannada language in North, South and coastal parts of the State. This linguistic diversity is a good example for unity in diversity in our country,” opined Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji.
He was speaking at the valedictory function of ‘Haadu-Honalu,’ a State-level Patriotic Songs Contest for children organised by Bharat Scouts and Guides – Karnataka in association with District Unit of Bharat Scouts and Guides at Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering Auditorium, Gokulam in the city on Sunday.
Around 500 children and 80 teachers from 32 District Units in Cubs, Bulbuls, Scouts, Guides, Rovers and Rangers category participated in the two-day Patriotic Songs Contest. Winners of the contest from each category received Rs. 1,000 cash award with certificate of merit.
MLA L. Nagendra, President of Vidyavardhaka Sangha Gundappa Gowda, Bharat Scouts and Guides-Karnataka State Chief Commissioner P.G.R. Sindhia and others were present.
Winners: Cubs — Saddam (first) of Shivamogga, V. Pranav (second) of Kolar and Chakchit Shiroor (third) of Bengaluru East.
Bulbul: Purvi (first) of Belagavi, Vibha (second) of Bengaluru South and Ananya (third) of Udupi.
Scouts: Dakshina Kannada (first), Bengaluru East (second) and Udupi (third). Guides: Dakshina Kannada (first), Udupi (second) and Mysuru (third).
