Nanjangud: “Even now in modern days Suttur Srikshetra is relentlessly encouraging culture and tradition in society,” commended MLC V. Somanna.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the valedictory of Bhajan Mela organised yesterday as part of the ongoing Suttur Jathra.
Somanna pointed out that Suttur Mutt was actively promoting Bhajans created by the ancestors. He contended that the social service rendered by Suttur Srikshetra had taken the name on to the world map.
Speaking on the organisation, MLA N. Kalale Keshavamurthy observed that the Jathra was becoming more and more colourful every year and was on par with Mysuru Dasara. He added that participants were coming from various States for the contests.
Rajya Sabha Member Rehman Khan hailed the Mutt as truly secular and pointed out that such Jathras would promote tradition and culture. Sri Prasannanandapuri Swamiji of Rajanahalli and Siddaganga Mutt Junior Pontiff Siddaliga Shivacharya Swamiji graced the occasion.
MLA Allam Veerabhadrappa, CADA Chairman H.S. Nanjappa, Advocate Vijay Kumar Herur, B.K. Vijayaji of Brahmakumari Samaja and others were present.
