Mysuru: The College Day celebrations of JSS College of Physiotherapy, Mysuru, for the year 2016-17 was held at Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Bhavan, MG Road, recently. On the occasion, College magazine ‘Swaasthya 2017’ was released.
Chief guest Dr. A.L. Hemalatha, Professor, Department of Pathology, DM Wayanad Institute of Medical Sciences, Wayanad, highlighted the key role of Physiotherapists in the treatment of patients as well as how the profession has evolved over the years.
Dr. P.A. Kushalappa, Director (Academics), JSS University, who presided, encouraged the students to take up more research activities apart from regular curricular and extracurricular activities. Renuka Devi, Associate Professor, read out the annual college report. Jeevika, Student Council President, compered. V.M. Prashanth, Lecturer, welcomed. Ridhi Rohit proposed a vote of thanks.
Prizes were given by the guests to winners of various academic, cultural and sports competitions. Poovaiah (3rd year BPT) and Sarwath (Intern) were adjudged as the men and women champions while the overall winners were the students of 2nd BPT.
The students performed cultural programmes on the occasion. The guests Dr. Hemalatha and Dr. Kushalappa, who are also well-known singers of Geeth Gaatha Chal-fame, rendered a few songs. This was followed by DJ night organised by Melix, a patient undergoing rehabilitation in the Physical Medicine Rehabilitation Centre of JSS Hospital.
