Mysuru: With an objective of sensitising the public on the ongoing nationwide Swachhata Abhiyan, over a hundred students of Indira High School in Sharadadevinagar took out an awareness rally this morning.
The rally passed through prominent streets of Sharadadevinagar and surrounding areas, before culminating at the starting point.
The rally was jointly organised by the Directorate of Field Publicity (DFP), Mysuru, Information and Public Relations Department, Health and Family Welfare Department, Department of Public Instruction, MCC, Sharada Educational Trust, Indira Educational Institutions and Jana Shikshana Samsthe.
Speaking after flagging off the rally, Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath said that the MCC was working on introducing ‘Coco peat’ project where wet wastes will be converted into compost in a couple of days and the details of the project will be announced shortly.
Highlighting the measures taken by the MCC for appropriate disposal of all types of wastes, she said that the MCC was making all efforts to regain the ‘Cleanest City tag’ by involving all stakeholders and called upon the citizens to contribute their mite for ensuring the success of Swachhata Abhiyan.
Directorate of Field Publicity Assistant Director T.C. Poornima, MCC Commissioner K.H. Jagadeesha, Corporator Nirmala, Indira High School Founder Secretary H.R. Narayan, Sharada Educational Trust Secretary Jayakumar and oothers werepresent.
The students held placards that carried messages on waste segregation at source, waste disposal, maintenance of health and hygiene, etc.
