Swami Vivekananda was an embodiment of Scientific thoughts: Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar

Mysuru: University of Mysore (UoM) Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar said that Swami Vivekananda was an embodiment of Scientific and Intellectual thoughts. 

He was speaking after inaugurating Vivekananda Jayanti celebrations jointly organised by UoM Philosophy Department and Swami Vivekanada Chair at Rani Bahadur auditorium on Hunsur Road here yesterday.

Asserting that Swami Vivekananda who was a great saint and a humanist, stands as a towering personality for all times, Prof. Hemantha Kumar said that Vivekananda propounded that the real dharma lies in working for the cause of the oppressed sections of the society, sans any discrimination.

Pointing out that Swami Vekananda’s famous slogan ‘Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached’ is a great inspiration for the youth to march ahead for achieving their goals, he opined that education policy plays a key role in the future of a country.

Stating that Swami Vivekananda was an embodiment of spiritualism, he said that the great saint always believed that education plays a crucial role in moulding the future of  students.

Observing that Swami Vivekananda always respected all religions, he said that the saint, through his appealing speeches, made the west realise that India is a spiritual country with humanity abound.

Mysuru Ramakrishna Ashram’s Swami Shantivratanandaji spoke on ‘Swami Vivekananda’s message to the youth.’

Swami Vivekananda Chair former Visiting Faculty Dr. K. Raghavendra Pai, UoM Philosophy Department Head Dr. S. Venkatesh and others were present.
