Sweety, the gold medal winner German Shepherd of Dist. Dog Squad passes away

Mysuru: Sweety (5), the crime detecting German Shepherd dog of the District Dog Squad, which had won gold medals for three continuous years for detecting crimes, passed away last evening following illness. 

Sweety was suffering from fever since about two-and-a-half months and was under treatment but passed away yesterday at about 5 pm. Last rites were performed at the Dog Squad premises on Lalitha Mahal Road this morning. 

Sweety was inducted into Police Department on May 22, 2014 and was serving in the crime detection unit of the Dog Squad. She had won gold medals in Zonal-level Competitions in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

The District Dog Squad has a total of six dogs (three in crime detection unit and three in explosives detection unit). Following the demise of Sweety, there are five dogs left in the Dog Squad.
