Mysuru: The Mysuru Division of South Western Railway (SWR) celebrated International Women’s Day at Mysuru Railway Station under the theme “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.”
Kalika Agarwal, President, South Western Railway Women Welfare Organisation (SWRWWO), Mysuru Division, inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp. Speaking on the occasion, she said that the contribution of women in every field of life is massive and was heartening to see the outstanding role played by women during the Covid pandemic.
She emphasised that women’s day should be celebrated not only on one day but they should be honoured and celebrated each and every day and urged to recognise the significance of women in our life and society.
In all, 36 women housekeeping staff working at Mysuru Railway Station who are involved in upkeep of station cleanliness and the lone woman licensed Rail Sahayak over South Western Railway were handed over mementoes on the occasion by SWRWWO.
Out of total strength of 611 women employees, 11 meritorious women employees of Mysuru Division who have excelled in their duties were felicitated by Rahul Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), in a separate valedictory programme organised later in the day at Chamundi Club, Yadavagiri.
Budati Srinivasalu, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Prashanth Mastiholi, Senior Divisional Personnel Officer and other Senior Officers were present.
Various entertainment programmes like rangoli competition, cooking competition and other cultural programmes and games were also conducted.
