Mysuru: The Department of Studies in Food Science and Nutrition (UGC-DRS II), University of Mysore and Indian Dietetic Association – Mysore chapter, have jointly organised a UGC – sponsored symposium on “Evidence-based Nutrition for Prevention and Management of Diabetes” tomorrow (Mar.21) from 9 am to 4 pm at IOE Auditorium, Vigyan Bhavan, Manasagangothri, here.
The following experts will deliver talk on various topics:
Dr. M.A.Shekar, Director, Karnataka Institute of Diabetology, Bengaluru, will speak on ‘Evidence-based medical nutrition in prevention and management of diabetes’; Dr.Uliyar.V.Mani, former Professor, MS University and former Director, WHO collaborative centre, Vadodara, on ‘Functional foods for diabetes’; Dr. K. Srinivasan, Chief Scientist (Retd.) and former Head, Department of Biochemistry and Nutrition, CFTRI, Mysuru, on ‘Dietary spices as functional foods in the alleviation of diabetic complications’; Varsha S. Koppikar, Clinical Dietitian, Bengaluru, on ‘Dietary management of Gestational Diabetes’; Dr. Sudha Sairam, Research Associate, St. John’s Research Institute, Bengaluru, on ‘Translation nutrition research for Diabetes management’; Dr. Vivek Srivastav, Fresenius Kabi, on ‘Benefits of scientific feed in critically ill patients’; Dr. Sebastian Bani, Sami Direct Marketing Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru, on ‘Nutraceuticals for managing Diabetes.’
