Athletics is considered to be the mother of all sports. An upcoming athlete from Mysuru, B. Manush did everyone proud by winning gold in Shot-Put in Dasara Games CM Cup 2018, with a throw of 15.61m in men’s section. He has created new State Meet Records in the U-20, U-18 & U-16 age categories and has been consistently performing well in the National circuit also. He is our ‘Star This Week.’
The 19-year-old is the student of Basudeva Somani College, Mysuru. He has also won gold in the Mysore University Inter-Collegiate Meet 2018. A South Zone National silver medallist, Manush broke the Meet Record with his excellent performance. He has represented Karnataka more than 15 times in the National Meets.
In the Junior National Federation Cup, Manush secured fifth place and in Youth Nationals, he secured seventh place. He missed the qualifying mark in the Mysore University Inter-Collegiate Meet for the All India Championships, but since he is a potential athlete with bright prospects, the University of Mysore’s selection Committee for athletics could have picked him for the University team, which they have not done. Manush deserves a chance as he has the potential to strike it rich in the All India level. He has personal best of 16.36m which he had performed in the State Meet. In the 34th Karnataka State Junior & Senior Athletic Championship-2018 held from Sept.3 to 5, 2018, Manush, representing Mysuru district in the Championship, won first place in the shot-put event in the Boys U-20 section with a throw of 17.70m and created a New Meet Record. Manush intends to work hard in future to represent the State in the Nationals and win medals.
