Talented Cricketer: Kishan Bedare

Cricket is a very popular game in our country and many youngsters have taken up cricket as their career. Mysuru also has its share of producing talented cricketers who have gone on to represent the State and the country. City’s talented cricketer Kishan S. Bedare has come up with some sterling performance with the willow and the cherry for University of Mysore (UoM) in the South Zone Inter-University Cricket Tournament for Men 2018 conducted by VTU at Mysuru and Shivamogga in which his team finished runners-up. Kishan won ‘The Best All-rounder’ title in the Tournament with a total of 289 runs in seven matches and also by taking four wickets. He is our Star This Week.

Kishan, a middle -order batsman and a medium-pace bowler was consistent throughout the Tournament. He scored a valuable 61 in the final against Jain University, Bengaluru. In the semi-finals against Hindustani IT & S, Chennai, Kishan scored 29 n.o. In the quarter-finals against MG University, Kottayam, Kishan scored a valuable 52 (47b, 4×4).

In the pre-quarters, Kishan scored a well-compiled 41 (25b, 3×4, 2×6). In the third round, UoM beat University of Madras and Kishan scored an unbeaten 54 (46b, 3×4, 2×6). In the second round, Mysore University scored a seven-wicket win over Karnatak University, Dhardwad and Kishan scored 16 n.o. In the first round, UoM beat Vels Inst. of ST & A studies Universities, Chennai by seven wickets and Kishan scored a well-compiled 36 runs. UoM is now qualified for the All India Inter-University Championships 2018 to be held from Feb.3 to 7 at Bhubaneswar.

A student of Sapient College of Commerce and Management, Mysuru, Kishan also represented Karnataka U-23 team in the Col. C.K. Nayudu Trophy 2018-19 and performed well.

His all-round performance for National Cricket Club has helped his team perform well in the KSCA Mysuru Zone 1st Division League Tournament. He represented Mofussil XI in the Sri S.A. Srinivasan Memorial (U-23) Tournament 2017-18 and performed well.

Kishan has also represented the State and South Zone in the U-16 level and has represented the Mysuru Zone in different age categories (U-14, U-16, U-19, U-23).
