Cricket is a very popular game in our country and many youngsters have taken up cricket as their career. Mysuru also has its share of producing talented cricketers who have gone on to represent the State and the country. Mysuru city’s talented cricketer M. Venkatesh represented Karnataka in the Cooch Behar Trophy Tournament for U-19 and fared well. Against Punjab, Venkatesh came out with an inspiring performance with the ball and took five for 34 in the match played at Shivamogga recently. He has so far taken 27 wickets in the Tournament and has been performing consistently with the ball. He is our ‘Star This Week.’
Venkatesh has been rewarded for his consistent performances in the National level in the U-19 one-day limited-over Zonal League 2018-19, and was picked in the India Red U-19 squad for the Challenger Series held in Lucknow during November, 2018.
He will be representing Karnataka in the Round V of the Cooch Behar U-19 Tournament match against Madhya Pradesh to be played at Belagavi from Jan.21.
In the recently held Vinoo Mankad Trophy U-19 one-day limited overs one-day Zonal League (2018-19), Venkatesh had some excellent performances with the bat and ball. Venkatesh, representing Karnataka, took 3 for 22 Vs Assam, 3 for 65 Vs Madhya Pradesh, 3 for 44 & 46 Vs Gujarat, 4 for 30 Vs Mumbai, 3 for 49 & 43 Vs Maharashtra, 3 for 58 & 28 Vs Bengal.
Venkatesh plays for Jo Jo CC in the KSCA Mysuru Zonal league in the First Division.
Encouraged by his parents, his Club and KSCA Mysuru Zone, Venkatesh intends to work hard in the days to come and represent the State in the senior level.
