Mysore/Mysuru: Mysore Literary Association has organised a talk on ‘Food, Agriculture and Farmer’ by Dr. Vasanth Kumar Thimakapura, renowned agricultural scientist, at Kalpa Kshetra, Vijayanagar 4th Stage, 1st Phase, Mysuru, tomorrow (Jan. 18) at 11 am.
Dr. Vasanth Kumar Thimakapura, a Plant Pathologist and Social Agripreneur, is dedicated to solving farmers’ problems through practical science and field-driven innovation. With over four decades of hands-on experience in crop health management, he is widely known among farmers as “Plant Doctor” for his accurate diagnosis and effective solutions to complex crop diseases.
An alumnus of the University of Mysore, Dr. Thimakapura holds M.Sc., M.Phil., and Ph.D. degrees in Applied Botany. After beginning his career as a University lecturer, his passion for field-level impact led him to work extensively with farmers and later with Pioneer Hi-Bred International (USA), where he spent 15 years collaborating with global experts in Crop Pathology and Seed Science.
He has pioneered a unique interest-free micro-finance model by supplying critical agricultural inputs on credit to thousands of small and marginal farmers, significantly improving their livelihoods.
