Talk on ‘Formation of Karnataka State’

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysore Open Forum (MOF) has organised a talk on Formation of Karnataka State by Prof. Rajendra Chenni, former Professor of English, Kuvempu University, at 10.30 am on July 14 at KalpaKshetra Auditorium, #581/1, Vijayanagar 4th Stage, 1st Phase, Mysuru. [Mob: 9449819536]

Prof. Rajendra Chenni is presently the Director, Manasa Centre for Cultural Studies, Shivamogga. He is a bilingual writer with nineteen works in Kannada and eight in English. His contribution to literacy criticism and cultural criticism has been recognised with several honours including Lifetime Achievement Award (Karnataka State SahityaAkademi), D.R. Bendre National Award, Prof. G.S. Shivarudrappa Award, V.M. Inamdar Award and B.H. Shridhar Award.

He has actively participated in the people’s movements in Karnataka. He has published a novel in English and two collections of short stories in Kannada. His recent work ‘State Matters: Unification of Karnataka and Kannada Sub Nationalism’ has been published by Manipal Universal Press, Manipal.

He will be speaking about the bringing together of Kannada speaking areas from Mysore State, Madras Presidency, Uttara Karnataka, Hyderabad Karnataka and others to form the State of Karnataka in 1956. The talk is open to all.
