Talk on Shakespeare’s ‘Tempest’ at Mahajana

A special lecture on William Shakespeare’s ‘Tempest’ was organised by the Department of English, SBRR Mahajana First Grade College, on Mar.14. Dr. Purnima, Director of Children’s Literary Club, Mysuru, was the resource person.

Speaking on the play ‘Tempest’ prescribed for students of BA/B.Sc., Dr. Purnima highlighted the contrastive elements in the play like nature-society, harmony-disharmony, characters like Ariel & Caliban and also the importance of the opening scene.

On the occasion, a DVD on the opening scene of the play was screened. The concept, design and script writing was done by Dr. Purnima, directed by Prof. H.S. Umesh, produced by KSOU and Doordarshan-Bengaluru.

The Head of the Department of English K.R. Manjunath and other faculty members were present on the occasion.
