TATA IPL 2022 to kick off tomorrow

The TATA Indian Premier League 2022 (IPL 2022) will kick off tomorrow with a match between defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and runners-up Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium at 7.30 pm.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be hosting the fifteenth edition of IPL across four venues in Maharashtra’s Mumbai and Pune from Mar. 26 and the final match of the league will be played on May 22.

TATA IPL 2022 will witness 10 teams locking horns against each other in 74 matches that will be played within 65 days. Of these, 70 are league matches, while 4 are play-off matches. The schedule for playoffs and the final is yet to be announced by BCCI. The first double-header of the league will be played on Mar. 27 with a day match between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, and a night game between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Cricket Club of India and DY Patil Stadium respectively.

In all, 12 double-headers will be played in IPL 2022 with the first match starting at 3.30 pm and the second match at 7.30 pm.

A total of 20 IPL matches each will be played at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium, 15 IPL matches at Cricket Club of India and MCA International Stadium in Pune.

IPL-2022 Format: Ten teams will be divided into two groups — Group A and Group B. Each team will play 14 league matches.

Group A: Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants. Group B: Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans.
