Sir,
Residents of Eastern parts of the city such as Shakthinagar, Siddarthanagar, K.C. Layout etc. have been paying property tax at MCC Ward Office in Gayathripuram. Suddenly, people are being asked to go all the way to K.R. Mohalla to remit tax, thus inconveniencing thousands of people. One wonders whose brilliant idea has led to this change.
Governments and its agencies have to ease draconian rules to help tax-payers. But the MCC has neither computerised the system of tax payment nor helped tax payers to pay taxes at ease. Instead, it follows the archaic system of manually filling the required forms by paying the ‘writer’ whatever he/ she demands making everyone ‘illiterate’. In these days of technological progress, it is a shame that the MCC is on the reverse gear.
It is high time the MCC authorities allow payment of taxes at Gayathripuram Ward Office and also simplify tax payment forms and authorise some of the nationalised banks to receive the tax amount. Till then, it is prudent on their part to extend 5 percent discount.
As in the case of BBMP, why can’t MCC computerise the accounts which will speed up their work and also identify defaulters?
