Techies drown in Kapila River: Body of another techie fished out last evening

Nanjangud: The bodies of two youths from Rajajinagar in Bengaluru, said to be software engineers who had gone for a swim in Kapila River at Nanjangud last morning and swept away, have been fished out from the river.

While the body of Rajiv Ranjan Tiwari was fished out in the afternoon, the body of Snehal Ashish was fished out at about 6.30 pm by the Fire and Emergency Service personnel and expert swimmers.

Nanjangud Police, who have registered a case in this regard, have shifted the bodies  to MMC&RI mortuary in Mysuru and have informed the family members of the deceased.

It is learnt that Rajiv, Snehal and Vinod, had come to Mysuru for New Year celebrations and yesterday morning, they went to Nanjangud to visit Srikanteshwara Temple. Before going to the temple, the trio ventured into Kapila River for a swim during which Rajiv and Snehal were caught in strong currents and were swept away while Vinod managed to swim back to safety.

Soon, the Police along with expert swimmers and Fire personnel launched a search operation to fish out the bodies and managed to fish them out in the afternoon and in the evening.
