Temple bull succumbs to rabies at Metagalli

Mysuru: Basava, the revered bull belonging to the Mahalingeshwara Temple at Metagalli, died last evening after suffering from rabies caused by a dog bite.

Basava was bitten by a rabid dog, following which he exhibited signs of distress and wandered restlessly, raising concerns among locals about potential rabies transmission.

Alert youths from the Garadi Mane managed to secure the bull and arranged veterinary care,                                     but Basava could not recover despite their efforts.

Following his death, the youths and residents performed his last rites near the Mahalingeshwara Temple, honouring his significance in the Temple tradition.
