Mysore/Mysore: About 30 tempo and taxi owners, along with their vehicles, staged a demonstration at the Makkaji Chowk here this morning, protesting against the lack of facilities at the new stand.
They alleged that the taxi and tempo stand, which was at the Chowk, has been shifted to a spot near Harishchandra Ghat on Nanjangud Road, where basic amenities like water and electricity are not available.
“The tempos will ply from Makkaji Chowk as usual till the facilities are provided at the new stand,” declared the tempo owners. Lot of misappropriation has been alleged in the dealings involving the proposed new complex project at Makkaji Chowk.
Mysore Mini Lorry Owners’ and Drivers’ Association, Prasthutha Nagarika Vedike and Vivekananda Jana Jagruthi Seva Samithi, which organised today’s demonstration, demanded an inquiry into the alleged scandal and expose the beneficiaries.
“An agitation against the Mayor, the Commissioner and Corporators would be launched if the scandal is not exposed soon,” warned S. Murali, President of Tempo Owners’ and Drivers’ Association.
Tempo Association Secretary Premanand Bhat, Treasurer Adarsha, Nagarika Vedike President Bhaskar, Vivekananda Samithi Secretary Ramesh, Ravichandra and others were present.
