Mysore/Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri said that in view of COVID-19 pandemic, Kannada Rajyotsava will be celebrated in a simple manner on Nov.1, during which 10 achievers from the district will be felicitated.
She was speaking at the Rajyotsava preparatory meeting held at her office on Wednesday.
Giving details about the celebrations in Mysuru, Rohini said that District Minister will unfurl the Kannada Flag after showering petals on the portrait of Goddess Bhuvaneshwari, in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple at the Palace North Gate at 8.30 am on Nov.1, following which he will address the gathering. Pointing out that 10 achievers from different fields will be feted during the Rajyotsava celebration as in the previous years, she directed the officials to identify Kannadiga achievers of the district.
She further said that on account of the COVID-19 pandemic, the usual procession and cultural programmes will not take place.
Mysuru City Corporation Commissioner Gurudatta Hegde, Additional Deputy Commissioner B.S. Manjunathswamy, Assistant Commissioner N.C. Venkataraju, Kannada and Culture Assistant Director H. Channappa, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr. Y.D. Rajanna, Kannada activists Thayur Vittalamurthy, M. Mohankumar Gowda, Mugur Nanjundaswamy and others were present at the meeting.
