The Most Mysterious Unsolved Murders of All Time

Crimes cannot always be solved. No matter how much the authorities try and how many resources they allocate to a special case, there are situations when the culprit simply cannot be found.

When this happens, a criminal defense law firm is left without a case, and prosecution attorneys also cannot do much to see the end of it. Everything they can do is wait for new evidence to the surface – perhaps evidence that will solve the case and point to a murderer!

Here are some of those mysterious cases that patiently wait for an explanation.

Tupak Shakur and Notorious B.I.G

Some would say that the two crimes are not connected, but others would disagree. When Shakur’s record label, Death Row, was competing with Bad Boy, Biggie’s label, the former was murdered.

Tupac was killed in a drive-by in Las Vegas on the 13th of September 1996. Biggie was then killed in the same manner, six months later. The murderers have not been found yet, despite an investigation that lasted for almost 10 years.

The Zodiac Killer

The answers to the murders of the Zodiac killer were partially answered in the novel that later became a movie. However, the police were never able to solve that one puzzle the killer sent them, which reportedly was the key to his name.

This case is mysterious as the Zodiac did not attempt to hide until things calmed down. Instead, he periodically sent letters and codified messages to the media and the police.

By 2017, the investigation related to the Zodiac killer and his murders was still ongoing.

The Black Dahlia’s Death

This murder shocked people in 1947, as the victim was found perfectly sliced in half, with no blood in sight. Reportedly, she had been bled dry prior to being cut in half and dumped randomly somewhere in LA.

After an arduous investigation performed by both police and the FBI (which has reportedly interviewed hundreds of people), the case is still a cold one with no new evidence available.

Jack the Ripper

Naturally, you cannot have a top of mysterious unsolved murders without mentioning the infamous Jack the Ripper. The subject of many books and movies, this London-based murderer has terrorized the entire city throughout 1888.

His grisly and barbaric murders took a toll on more than just police officers. Entire neighborhoods were sent into a panic.

But because, at the time, there were no advanced means of murder and forensic investigation, Jack the Ripper could not be brought to justice.

His identity will most likely remain a mystery, forever!

The Bottom Line

All the above left police departments disoriented and baffled. A crime as recent as 1995 (Tupac and Biggie) is as hard to solve as the murders of the Ripper, which took place way back in 1888.

However, it is worth noting that these are rather isolated cases and that, for recent murders, there may be more at stake than just a criminal who cannot be found.
