Mysuru: Desiranga Cultural Organisation of the city is conducting a fortnight theatre and dance workshop from Sept.18 to Oct.5 between 4.30 pm and 6 pm for college students at the premises of Kalamandira in city. Members of various cultural organisations can also take part in the workshop.
The participants will be trained in acting, dance, singing, lighting, music and all other forms of theatre training. Folk dances like Kamsale, Dollu Kunitha, Puja Kunitha, Kolata, Maari Kunitha will also be taught. Participants will be educated about Western and Indian theatre Movement.
At the workshop, the participants will be trained to stage the play ‘Jalagara,’ written by poet laureate Kuvempu and ‘Kallarali Hoovagi’, a play written by Prof. Lingadevaru Halemane, which will be staged following the valedictory of the workshop at Mini Theatre in Kalamandira.
Study Camp
Desiranga has also organised a one-day study camp for the participants. They will be taught about leadership qualities, to cultivate progressive thinking besides to fight superstition and blind beliefs in the society.
Valedictory
The valedictory of the workshop will held on Oct.2. A seminar on the topic ‘Gandhi and Progressive Ideologies’ will be held on the same day.
