Madikeri: With just a day left for Cauvery Theerthodbhava at Talacauvery, the birth place of Goddess Cauvery in Kodagu on Oct. 17, preparations are in full swing at Talacauvery and Bhagamandala temples for the famous religious event.
Hitachi machines are working overtime at Triveni Sangama in Bhagamandala to remove silt and the district administration is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that pilgrims have a peaceful darshan.
The Talacauvery-Bhagamandala Temple Management Committee has been overseeing the silt removal operations. Besides the Committee has taken all measures that ‘Pinda Pradhana’ and tonsuring spots are maintained clean and tidy.
With Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy arriving at Talacauvery on Oct.17 to witness Theerthodbhava, the district administration has made special arrangements for the guests to view the annual event. Barricades and bamboo-made makeshift parapet walls are erected close to the site to avoid rush.
Theerthodbhava will take place at 6.43 pm tomorrow in the auspicious Mesha Lagna.
Kodagu district administration has installed 3 huge LED screens to enable the devotees to witness the Theerthodbhava live.
Vehicles are allowed to enter Talacauvery only till 4 pm tomorrow. KSRTC will be plying special buses from Bhagamandala and other places to Talacauvery on account of Theerthodbhava.
The district administration has banned sale of liquor in 15-km radius of Bhagamandala from midnight of Oct. 16 to midnight of Oct. 18.
Cauvery Sankramana at Mysore Kodava Samaja
Kodava Samaja, Mysore, will be celebrating Cauvery Sankramana festival in the Samaja premises at Vijayanagar I Stage on Oct.18.
Kani Puja will be performed at 10.30 am. Holy Theertha will be distributed to all those present in the celebration.
All the devotees are requested to assemble at 10.30 am, according to a press release from
Malachira Ponnappa, Secretary of the Samaja.
